ABOUT US

The Youth Takeover Project, TYTP, mission is to cultivate young minds to take over the world confidently. They will do this by being led and mentored by experts from various fields. The project will empower students in Financial Literacy/Management, Fitness/Nutrition, Music Fashion, and Media. We are teachers, specialist and influencers of today’s society. All mentors are experts in their fields and work with reputable corporations including Cintron Live, CNN and VH1 just to name a few. In short term, we are looking to host bi-weekly sessions with students to teach them the fundamentals of each field. However, in order to be effective, we would like to progressively increase our presence in the lives of the students.

The program will start with the most at-risk students. Each student will sign up for a field of their interest. We would like to give the students the opportunity to choose their placement because they will be more invested in the program and their development. Once placement is secured, students will begin group sessions with their mentors. The sessions will ideally take place in another location besides the school building to give students a fresh start. Sessions will consist of learning, emotional healing/bonding, and will ultimately turn into the students interning in their field. What makes The Youth Takeover Project different from other inner-city programs is, it offers unconventional internship opportunities and it allows students to see individuals who look like them, once lived like them, in successful roles. As it stands, the New York City Internship Opportunities are limited to the following fields Arts, Education, Government, Law Enforcement, Legal, and Science, Technology Engineering, and Math. We do not want to confine our students’ talents, but expose and extend them to their interest and passions. Finally, TYTP wants to foster the idea of community service in the lives of our youth; therefore, in order to be a part of the program, students are required to pour what they are learning back into their communities. For example, they can volunteer at local middle schools and after school programs. We believe each one should teach one!
